We are Larry and Eva Birch. We have been blessed with 3 sons, 2 daughters (one by birth and one by marriage) 2 granddaughters and a grandson. With 3 kids (young adults) still at home plus 3 basenjis, 1 elderly Minn Pinn and a blue front Amazon Parrot our home is rarely boring. Larry works as a manager for Hallmark cards and I get to work from home.

We brought home our first Basenji January 31, 2004. Tucker was a much anticipated Christmas gift for our son. Little did we know what an impact that bundle of red basenji boy would make on our lives. Milly joined the family later that spring. Thinking our pack complete imagine my surprise at finding my heart being carried on the chest of a striped basenji puppy. Presley came home in the fall of 2004. We brought home a new baby in March of 2008. Lola joined the family with ease and like the other 3 she soon had us under her spell.

We participate in various activities with our basenjis. We really enjoy showing in conformation shows. We were thrilled to be able to owner handle all 3 of ours to their AKC Championships. Tucker "Ch. Birchs I'm A Deam Come True" in 2005, Milly "Ch. Lacada's Energizer Bunny" in 2006 and Presley "Ch. Jazzeta's I Was The One JC in 2007. We are now once again showing for points as baby Lola begins the quest for her title. We also have begun to play a little in the field events. It is truly breath taking to see the natural athlete a basenji is when they are using their God given instincts and abilities. We plan to add some coursing and racing titles in the future. I am even toying with the idea of rally obedience. (don't laugh too hard)

Our Basenjis live in our home and are more than just pets. They are an active part of our daily family life. We enjoy daily walks around town and spend many evenings whether watching TV or reading snuggled with curly tailed kids. Their playful spirit and zest for exploring their world keep us both entertained and busy. I usually describe them as forever 2 year olds and Larry says they are the closest thing to a wild animal you can own without a permit.

We chose to join the Show-Me Basenji club in order to surround ourselves with people from whom we could learn more about this intriguing breed. We also wanted a place where we could begin to work and do our part in making the lives of all basenjis now as well as future generations better. I think the beauty of our club is that no matter your level of involvement with the breed you will find yourself with friends. Our membership includes pillars of the Basenji world who have dedicated years of work and resources that we are all reaping the benefit of today. Rescue work is also a very important element of our club. Even though many of us participate in these activities,You don't have to be a Breeder, show in conformation or any other organized activity to feel at home. We have members who simply found themselves living with a basenji under a variety of different circumstances. Each and Every member is both a valued and a vital part of the club. I would highly recommend the club to anyone who is looking for a friendly group of people who takes the welfare of all basenjis seriously. You will find we are a good source to find friends, advice, activities and the opportunity to give back to the breed a portion of what you have received. We celebrate life's victories with each other and support each other through rough times. We are a diverse group brought together by one common interest and goal. Please join us there is always room for you and the Welcome Mat is out!
