A few weeks ago, Debbie and I took a trip to a place called
Kansas. We got up early in the morning and then got in our new
Basenji Bus  and started down the highway.  We stopped at some
of the parks by the highway, and a store in some little town, and
finally we got to a town called Lawrence.
Debbie made me ride in my crate all the way there which is OK,
but I'd really rather ride in the front seat with her from now on, and
here's why. I usually sit in my crate and look out the back window.
I can see all the people in the other cars and watch them talk and
eat and sometimes wave at me.  (Of course, sometimes the cars
are really big and tall and I can't even see the people in them, so I
growl at those.)  When we were driving in Lawrence looking for
our motel room, I was watching out my back window again and
this white car behind us started following us.  He got closer, and
closer, and closer, and  CLOSER, until finally, BAM!!!   He drove
right into my back door!
You should have heard the noise!  It was worse than when
Malcolm the Ocicat knocked the ladder over!  I looked over at
Debbie and she was sitting there like she couldn't figure out what
to do next.  Finally, she turned left and parked in a parking lot.
She and the man in the white car got out and looked at my back
door then talked on the phone.  FINALLY, she opened up my back
door to see if I was scared.
Boy, was I scared!  Debbie finally walked me over to some
grass and let me walk around and I felt better after that.  The
man in the white car apologized for scaring me.  He
seemed really upset so I licked his hand to make him feel
better.  He claimed that he had been grabbing for
something in his floorboard and forgot to look up and
watch for us.  But you know what, I think he probably had a
cat in his floorboard.  That cat was probably walking around
in his car and made the man look down and forget about his
driving.  Cats are like that you know.

So, the moral to this story is:  Don't drive around with a cat
in your car!  Cats make you look the wrong direction and
make you hit the car in front of you!  And if you're a dog,
always sit in your human's lap while they're driving. It's safer.
